Just returned from a whirl wind trip to the Bahamas and Turk & Caicos courtesy of Sandals & Beaches Resorts.   Flying nonstop to Exuma, an outer island of the Bahamas is a rare luxury from MSP but a chartered Sun Country plane made it all possible.  We were on Exuma all afternoon the first day touring the elegant & secluded Sandals Emerald Bay.  This amazing resort is the most recent addition to the adults only Sandals Empire of luxury Caribbean all-inclusive resorts.  Driving golf carts around their Greg Norman signature golf course with the Caribbean Sea as a back drop was a highlight.

Sandals Emerald Grand, Exuma is the prefect romantic destination wedding or vow renewal location for a mature couple.  By that I mean anyone over 30 who enjoy stylish accommodations and superb service.   Sandals offer several “Martha Stewart” wedding packages.  They host simple elegant weddings to the more elaborate shows.

Diving & Golf groups will absolutely love this resort. The Bahamas has great diving and at Sandals Resorts diving is included in the all-inclusive package.  Sandals Emerald Bay also boasts free golf with certain room categories.   For the discerning honeymoon couple or group who enjoy quiet, class, service and lots of quality inclusions Sandals Emerald Bay, Exuma will not disappoint.

I often write about exotic destination wedding locations in Mexico & romantic honeymoon vacations in the Caribbean. This week, however, I’m on a road trip in route to a favorite haunt of my youth Wyoming –Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and finally onto Big Sky MT.  I’m traveling with my friend Cindy, her daughter Alia 11, my husband Paul & children Connor 13 & Monique 11.

We spent the first day flying across South Dakota in our rented minivan surrounded by motor cycles on the way to the Sturgis bike rally.  The goal was to reach the Black Hills and see MT Rushmore that first day.  I had forgotten how spectacular the monument truly is.

We booked 2 nights & 2 rooms at the Bavarian Inn in Custer SD.  While not a glamorous property it is cute, clean, had a nice restaurant and 2 pools which the kids loved.  The next day we visited Wind Cave the 5th longest cave in the world & spent the rest of the day visiting Custer State park and driving he Needles highway all the while accompanied by more motor cycles than I have ever seen.  Would I recommend a Black Hills honeymoon?  For the couple who enjoys nature and some wild west history absolutely!!  Tomorrow it is on Wyoming and higher mountains.

Yesterday I reviewed the El Dorado Royale Resort & spa. Today I turn my gaze to  her  equally romantic but more intimate( 280 jr suites) & secluded  sister property the El Dorado Seaside Suites located on Kantenah Bay south of Puerto Aventuras  on the Riviera Maya.  This resort is about 1 ½ hours south of the Cancun  airport.

This 5 star luxury adult’s only all-inclusive honeymoon resort has a rustic ambiance.  Surround by 280 unspoiled acres the El Dorado Seaside Suites appeals to the honeymoon couple who want the “get away from it all” feeling.   It made Forbes.com Annual List of Most Romantic Hotels in 2006. With beach beds lying on white sand surrounded by coconut palms & a charming beach front wedding gazebo, the El Dorado Seaside Suites looks post card perfect.

The beach is a little rocky but that’s because of the coral reef located close to the resort.  The coral though makes for incredible snorkeling.  All five restaurants are ala carte with great service.   Once again the landscaping is colorful and inviting.  I didn’t want to leave.

Why I Love Romance Travel

Why I Love Romance Travel!

Working with couples & families when they are planning a magic moment in life like a beach wedding on the Riviera Maya or a honeymoon getaway to Maui is fun! Planning a couples’ 25th anniversary Mediterranean cruise is exciting.  I feel great when I know the trip is spectacular and that they will have blast.

Couples spend more money on their honeymoon than their annual trip.  The room & the view are important to honeymooners.  If they are traveling to Mexico or the Caribbean the luxury adults only all inclusive resorts are very appealing.   They can be pampered at the spa and have amenities & activities at their finger tips.

A great time to travel to Mexico or the Caribbean is between Thanksgiving & Christmas week.    Hurricane season over, the weather is great but it is a low time for travel so deals abound.
