Cancun is easily accessible, one pays Mexico prices while honeymooning on the Caribbean Sea & the romantic all-inclusive resort options are numerous. They are all-inclusive resorts on the Riviera Maya that fit the budget of every bride.

Couples who call seeking information on a destination wedding are sometime intimidated by the barrage of necessary questions. I recently talked to a couple who really have their heart set on Cabo San Lucas.  I love Los Cabos especially during the winter months when the whales reside in & around the Sea of Cortes. 
While a Mexico wedding is still the best bang for your buck a wedding in Cabo San Lucas will run higher than a wedding in Cancun or the Riviera Maya. One reason is that Cabo San Lucas has fewer flights & they’re more expensive.   This alone can add $200 dollars to their guest’s trip.  When price becomes an issue Cancun wins.

All-inclusive resorts are not created equal.  When choosing an all-inclusive resort to host your Caribbean or Mexico wedding make sure to choose one with a high rating.  The difference between a 3 & 4 star rating can really affect the quality of the food & liquor served at the resort.  I always recommend at least a 4 star resort when booking a wedding location.  Remember you guests will be dining here.

Five star or luxury all-inclusive properties offer great variety in dining selections. The Royal Cancun, an adult’s only 5 star luxury resort, hosted a mock wedding feast for agents on a wedding trip I took last year.  We attended a gourmet five course diner complete with wine pairing.  It was an elegant affair.  The food presentation was fabulous and & every course delicious.  I was very impressed.   

Since that visit I feel confident in recommending The Royal Cancun.  I have booked it for groups & honeymooners.

Getting Married in Mexico

Getting married in Mexico is really quite easy.  Deluxe all inclusive resorts take care of all the legal requirements without the bride & groom even leaving the resort.  

Getting married in Mexico can be very glamorous.   Seasoned wedding coordinators create lavish or very simple unique weddings celebrations.  Beach weddings are very popular but some couple still prefer the beach side chapel.

Getting married in Mexico is a great deal.  Many couples choose Mexico weddings because financially it is a good move.  They can afford to marry & honeymoon for a faction of the cost of a traditional wedding in the states.

I always remind my bride & groom that people are traveling a great distance to be at your wedding so you best put on a bit of a show.  And if you can afford it plan a group excursion, a round of golf, deep sea fishing, a boat cruise etc…

I took my family on a Mexico vacation this past month to Cancun & of course I mixed business with pleasure.Always on the look for the best destination wedding locations, I made appoints with wedding coordinators at several luxury all-inclusive resorts in Cancun & Isla Mujeres.

We stayed at Dreams Cancun which is Punta Cancun, the last resort on the very tip of Cancun. An upgrade to an ocean front room & sparking wine at check in was a sign of goods time ahead.

 This 5 star luxury all-inclusive resort is excellent for families & a superb ocean front wedding location if children will be in attendance. The dolphin’s which call Dreams Cancun their home are always fun to watch & yes, you can pay to swim with them too. My kids did and had a blast!! $100 dollars each for 45 minutes swim 

Dreams Cancun’s beach side wedding gazebo, offers an incredible view of Cancun, which makes it a spectacular spot to marry or renew your vows in Mexico.  Or you can have a beach wedding with your feet in the sand. Cancun’s beaches are back & beautiful! The beach reconstruction is a success.

I made a point to visit Le Blanc resort & spa, the high end property of the Palace Resorts chain.  LeBlanc is an adult’s only 5 star luxury all-inclusive resort a few miles south of Punta Cancun. Simple elegance best describes Le Blanc.  As far as a destination wedding location couples have the option for a beach wedding or a sunset wedding on their west facing terrace over looking the lagoon. All Palace resorts offer a free basic wedding package as well as free rooms toward the couple’s honeymoon vacation if their group is large enough.  This is great deals for couples.

Finally I took the ferry to Isla Mujeres where I visited the 4 star all-inclusive Isla Palace (of the Palace resort chain).

This boutique style resort is small by the Palace resorts standards, only 62 rooms, but still has amenities such a spa & 24 hour room service that appeal to honeymooners & families. The open air beach restaurant is prefect for the outdoor wedding reception following the beach wedding with Cancun in the background.

My last stop was the secluded & privately owned Villa Rolandi on Isla Mujeres.  This 4 star Mexico/ Mediterranean style resort is in prefect harmony with the environment & the beach.   This intimate resort with 35 ocean view suites and a gourmet Italian restaurant on premise can be rented entirely by a wedding couple  for their group.  The Villa Rolandi’s private catamaran ferries guests directly to the resort in style.

For those seeking a quiet, elegant Mexico honeymoon or anniversary trip the Villa Rolandi is also an excellent choice.

On my last post I described how this romance travel agent (me) was able to secure less expensive travel by participating in a destination wedding familiarization trip on the Riviera Maya through Funjet Vacations.

On the first night in Cancun, our host hotel the 4.5 star luxury all-inclusive Excellence Playa Mujeres, gave us a tour of the resort & their romantic wedding sites.

Although all the rooms are large jacuzzi jr. suites the roof top ocean view suites are amazing. They are prefect for a private cocktail reception for a small wedding & then a luxurious honeymoon getaway.

After the tour my self & 12 travel agents from around the country were wined & dined in the Italian specialty ala cart restaurant.  I was impressed with the service & the cuisine.

Upon return to my private jacuzzi jr suite which overlooked the pool, I found chocolate & sparkling wine waiting for me.  To full to eat & drink more I ordered room service for breakfast & hit the king size bed.

The next morning Lomas Travel, our traveling host, for the destination wedding site inspections picked us early & we drove over an hour down the Riviera Maya. We saw many all-inclusive Mexican resorts that day & more than a few romantic beach wedding locations but by far the best destination wedding & honeymoon resorts in my opinion are the adults only El Dorado Spa resorts by Karisma.  El Dorado Seaside Suites,( 280 jacuzzi jr. suites in a secluded location ), the Eldorado Royale (605 jr suites plus casitas suites set over a mile of secluded beach) & the El Dorado Maroma (72 suites including personalized butler service). The El Dorado’s are Mexican owned & operated and are truly green resorts.  These beach front luxury resorts blend into the landscaping so well they appear to be part it and they offer an authentic tropical vacation experience.

The accommodations are elegant, the gourmet ala carte restaurants are fantastic & the service is impeccable.  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the signature spas which are unbelievable.  If you are searching for honeymoon ideas in Mexico the El Dorado’s spa resorts are right choice.

Time to fly I’m leaving for Mexico in a tomorrow and I need to prepare for my next venture.
