I had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica to this past week via a travel FAM (a familiarization trip) through Tropical-Adventures & Tours, CA. This was a business trip packed with more sights than the average traveler would wish to endure in 7 nights/8 days but what an adventure it was. I came to the conclusion that this is one of the best places to travel for a romantic honeymoon getaway or an exotic destination wedding.
I arrived in San Jose around 12:00 after a long Delta flight and was most relieved to see my name on a sign & a driver waiting to take me to the Crown Plaza Corobici. The hotel is rated 3.5 stars but I give the staff 5 stars for their pleasant service. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the old city center & right next to a large park & the museum of modern art.
The next morning we were off to Tortuguero National Park (on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica) which we accessed via bumpy roads & 1 1/2 hours by boat. You can also take a 30 minute plane ride from San Jose but then you miss the boat ride. I felt the journey was worth it at least once. The Tortuguero area is serene & full of birds, caimans(alligators) crocodiles, monkeys & other creatures who roam the second growth forest. I did not see the elusive jaguar but I did witness a green sea turtles return to shore to lay her eggs something I will never forget.
Earlier the same evening I had dinner at Macamba Lodge one of several exotic eco lodges in the Tortugureo sanctuary and a very romantic place. They surprised our group with a dinner cruise on a large pontoon platform used for private river parties. The manager described a magical 35 person wedding reception held on the pontoon a week earlier as the sun set over the jungle.
For the couple who enjoys nature & a jungle atmosphere this is a great honeymoon getaway for a few days of your Costa Rica adventure.

Yellowstone National Park never ceases to amaze. I have had the opportunity to visit Yellowstone many times in my life and I am always in awe of its natural wonders. A honeymoon vacation in Yellowstone National Park will not disappoint the honeymoon couple that is searching for an awe inspiring experience with nature.
Arriving into Yellowstone via the southern route through the Grand Tetons is incredibly beautiful. What most tourists do not realize is that they are also entering the caldera of an ancient yet active volcano. Our first stop on this visit to in the park was West Thumb geyser basin on the edge Yellowstone Lake. When you stand on the south edge of the West Thumb geyser basin and peer into the clear water of the lake you are actually looking into a smaller submerged volcano caldera.
Besides having more geysers then any place in the world Yellowstone hosts abundant waterfalls, boiling mud pots, hot springs , inspiring vistas & is a sanctuary for many species such as grizzly bears, buffalo, elk, pronghorn, wolves etc..
Romantic accommodations also abound for honeymooners from the grand Lake Lodge, to the 100 year old, Old Faithful Inn & the newly renovated Old Faithful Lodge to less expensive cabins. A honeymoon in the USA can be hot!!
This has been a great road trip!! Call me today for more honeymoon and destination wedding ideas.

For the honeymoon couple who loves nature & old west nostalgia you need travel no further then Buffalo Wyoming & the Big Horn Mountains in eastern Wyoming. Most people are not familiar with the Big Horn Mountains which reside approximately 3 hours west of the Black Hills & 6 hours from Yellowstone. Tourists drive through in search of more famous land marks leaving the Big Horns with their original charm. Those who stay and explore the Big Horns will discover a un crowded gem with vistas & canyons that rival the more famous mountains to their west.
Our goal was to reach Grand Teton National Park the following day where I had an appointment to tour Jackson Lake lodge for destination wedding and honeymoon vacation purposes. This splendid lodge appears to be the hub of the park center. Wedding ceremonies are performed on the front lawn with stupendous views of Jackson Lake and the Tetons as the back drop. There is definitely a WOW factor for this destination wedding location. Couples can have their wedding reception out doors or inside the lodge. Jackson Lake also has several different accommodations to choose from. I would highly suggest the cottages with Teton views for your honeymoon escape.

I often write about
exotic destination wedding locations in Mexico & romantic honeymoon vacations in the Caribbean. This week, however, I’m on a road trip in route to a favorite haunt of my youth Wyoming –Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and finally onto Big Sky MT. I’m traveling with my friend Cindy, her daughter Alia 11, my husband Paul & children Connor 13 & Monique 11.
We spent the first day flying across South Dakota in our rented minivan surrounded by motor cycles on the way to the Sturgis bike rally. The goal was to reach the Black Hills and see MT Rushmore that first day. I had forgotten how spectacular the monument truly is.
We booked 2 nights & 2 rooms at the Bavarian Inn in Custer SD. While not a glamorous property it is cute, clean, had a nice restaurant and 2 pools which the kids loved. The next day we visited Wind Cave the 5th longest cave in the world & spent the rest of the day visiting Custer State park and driving he Needles highway all the while accompanied by more motor cycles than I have ever seen. Would I recommend a Black Hills honeymoon? For the couple who enjoys nature and some wild west history absolutely!! Tomorrow it is on Wyoming and higher mountains.

Your Las Vegas wedding need not include the Elvis impersonator or a Las Vegas wedding chapel. Instead you can choose to tie the knot in front of the Volcano at the Mirage or on the Terrace of the Bellagio overlooking the strip. Weddings are still big business in the City of Sin but now a variety of properties have raised the bar & crafted unique Las Vegas wedding packages to attract brides & grooms.

Wedding ceremonies at the Mirage are actually timed to the Volcano show so at the conclusion you can watch the Volcano show between champagne toasts. The Mirage does not have a dedicated wedding chapel which actually makes the experience more original as the hotel must showcase their distinct venues such as the volcano. Caesars Palace offers a customizable aromatherapy package that focuses on the meaning behind the flowers in the wedding bouquet. This Las Vegas wedding package appropriately includes Cleopatra’s Arsenal, different essential oils & couples massage packages.

The great recession has treated this romance travel specialist much as it has a liquor store owner. Business is steady. My point being is that people get married & go on honeymoons during good times & bad. These economic times may have forced people to shorten their honey moon vacations a bit and honeymoon couples may choose an all-inclusive Mexico honeymoon getaway over the Maui honeymoon vacation do to the price difference
but couples are still traveling.
The rising cost of hosting a wedding in your home town & the fact that families live states apart make the destination wedding alternative an easy choice for couples. People are traveling anyway so why not meet in an exotic location. Getting married in the Caribbean & Mexico is easy, comparatively inexpensive & glamorous. The rise in violence along the Mexican border has dampened the excited of some brides for a Mexico beach wedding but it has kept the prices down. Another couple sees the lower pricing as an opportunity to stay at the 5 star gourmet all-inclusive resort and to throw the Mexico beach wedding of a lifetime.

The prefect anniversary trip to Europe might be a river cruise. A river cruise is a relaxing “educational”, romantic anniversary get away for couples. River cruises are also great for small groups & extended family travel. River Cruises are also one of the best ways to travel trough Europe while unpacking only once.
River Cruises have become fancier and offer more amenities found on their big ship cousins such as specialty dining, large balconies, internet connections & lavish suites. Viking Cruise, AmaWaterways & Avalon Waterways to name a few competitors are remodeling & building new ships. Unlike the big ships River Cruises are inclusive. There is no nickel & diming on board. Most ships serve wine & beer with meals & offer a inclusive excursion per stop.
Whether your anniversary trip is just for two or you plan to bring some friends along a European River Cruise will not disappoint.
